⚡ Power Usage Guidelines – Berry Springs Farmstay
Our property runs on a solar power system with backup batteries, allowing us to live sustainably in harmony with nature.
To keep our system running smoothly — especially after sunset or during cloudy weather — please follow these important power guidelines.
Power & Cables
Never unplug or move any power cables.
Unplugging the wrong cable (especially in the pool pump shed or bore shed) can interrupt vital systems — including the air conditioning for an elderly family member who is not mobile.
Do not use the power outlet in the dog area.
You may charge your devices in the outdoor community kitchen where safe outlets are provided.
☀️ Solar Power System
Our electricity is generated by solar panels during daylight hours.
Please use high-energy appliances only during the day and conserve power at night.
Be mindful that solar energy is limited after sunset and depends on sunlight availability.
Backup Batteries
Backup batteries provide power during the night or on cloudy days.
These batteries keep essential systems running but have limited capacity.
⚠️ Please avoid unnecessary electricity use after sunset.
️ Cloudy Days Awareness
On cloudy days, our solar system may not produce enough energy for all needs.
Be extra careful with power use — turn off lights, fans, and appliances that aren’t essential.
❄️ Air Conditioning Use
Our backup batteries cannot support air conditioning overnight or on cloudy days.
If you require air conditioning during these times, please notify us in advance.
A contribution of $50 per week towards the power bill may apply for extended or nightly use.
⚡ Air conditioning should be used sparingly to avoid draining the batteries and causing power loss for the entire property.
Advance Notice
If you anticipate needing air conditioning or other high-power appliances, please let the owner know in advance.
This helps us plan energy usage and maintain stable power across all buildings.
Cost Awareness
Excessive reliance on electricity increases operational costs and affects sustainability.
Please use power thoughtfully — your mindfulness helps us keep the property eco-friendly and affordable for everyone.
Appliance Usage
⚠️ Avoid using too many electrical devices at once — this can cause power outages.
The main house area already runs essential appliances and cannot handle extra load.
Please use the community outdoor kitchen for cooking, as it is equipped with a stove, microwave, and safe charging outlets.
Avoid using or plugging in appliances at the caravan, as it may overload the power system.
Lights & Insects
To avoid attracting mosquitoes and insects, please use headlamps or minimal lighting outdoors at night.
Turn off lights when not needed to save power and reduce insect activity.
Together for Sustainability
By following these simple guidelines, we can:
✅ Maintain a reliable and efficient solar system
✅ Reduce costs and waste
✅ Support a sustainable, off-grid lifestyle
Your cooperation helps us protect our environment and ensures that Berry Springs Farmstay continues to run efficiently for everyone.
