To ensure a pleasant and efficient environment for everyone, please adhere to the following kitchen guidelines:
Kitchen Guidelines – Berry Springs Farmstay
To keep our property safe, hygienic, and enjoyable for everyone, please follow these guidelines.
Depending on your setup, you may have your own outdoor kitchen or use the shared community kitchen near the main house.
Own Outdoor Kitchen
Cleanliness & Food Storage
Keep your cooking area clean and tidy at all times.
Do not leave food, crumbs, or packaging outside — this attracts ants, cockroaches, and wildlife.
Store all food securely in sealed containers or your fridge to prevent contamination.
Cooking & Safety
⚠️ Never use gas cookers, camping stoves, or any open flames close to the solar batteries.
These are highly flammable and pose a serious fire risk.
☀️ Be mindful of solar energy — limit cooking with electric appliances to daylight hours when possible.
Turn off taps properly after use and conserve water, as we rely on bore and solar systems.
️ Waste Disposal
️ Collect all rubbish in a plastic bag and remove it after your meal.
Do not leave waste overnight — it attracts flies and animals.
♻️ Use the large recycled animal-feed bags near the ute for rubbish disposal.
After Cooking
✨ Wipe down benches, tables, and appliances after every use.
️ Wash dishes and return utensils to their designated places.
Always leave the area neat, clean, and ready for the next person.
Animals & Pests
Do not feed animals near your kitchen.
Keep chickens and other wildlife away.
Do not bring food into your accommodation — cleaning costs for pest infestations may be deducted from your bond.
Community Kitchen
The community kitchen includes a microwave, stove plate, kettle, convection oven, fridge, sink, cupboards, and shelving for shared use.
Kitchen Hours
⏰ Open daily from 6:00 AM – 10:30 PM.
Please avoid using electrical appliances after hours to respect quiet time and conserve power.
Supplies & Personal Items
Bring your own food, dishwashing liquid, and supplies.
If dishwashing liquid runs out, please buy a low-cost replacement and send the receipt for reimbursement.
Do not rearrange furniture, cupboards, or appliances.
Remove personal items (pots, towels, etc.) unless you’re donating them — otherwise our local tree frogs may decorate them!
Cleanliness & Hygiene
✨ Clean up immediately after use: wipe benches, tables, and appliances.
️ Wash, dry, and return dishes and cookware.
Take rubbish with you after every meal to avoid attracting flies.
Store all food securely in the fridge or cupboards — never leave food outside or in accommodation.
Fire Safety
⚡ The solar battery system is located beside the kitchen.
Never use gas cookers, camping stoves, or any open flames near the solar batteries or kitchen area.
Do not leave cooking unattended, and always know where the fire extinguisher and emergency exits are located.
Respect for Others
Be considerate — clean up promptly and share the space fairly.
Pets are not allowed in the kitchen.
Feed cats only in their special bowl, not on tables.
Gently chase chickens away from the kitchen area to maintain hygiene.
Water Conservation
Turn off taps tightly, especially the community kitchen tap which can drip.
Double-check before leaving the area.
Laundry Reminder
The washing machine near the kitchen belongs to the owners and is used for dog blankets.
Use the washing machine behind the demountable for personal laundry and hang clothes on the nearby line.
Do not place items on top of the washing machine — they will fall when it’s running.
Community & Care
️ Report any maintenance issues to the owner or property manager.
Improvements are welcome — please request approval first.
Donations of food or kitchen items for the animals are always appreciated.
Thank You
By following these kitchen rules, we keep both private and community kitchens clean, safe, and energy-efficient.
