Animal Care Guidelines
Caretakers must be committed to providing the best care for our animals. Ensuring their health, safety, and well-being and adhering to these guidelines, by contributing to the well-being and happiness of our animals. Thank you for your dedication and commitment!
Please familiarize yourself with the following guidelines to help us maintain a nurturing environment for all our animals:
- Our primary focus is the welfare of our animals. Treat all animals with kindness, respect, and compassion.
- Always double check with the owner if the animals can be alone for some hours. If this is not possible be responsible and make sure there is always at least one caretaker at home so that the animals are NEVER WITHOUT SUPERVISION!
Practice strict biosecurity measures to prevent the introduction and spread of diseases. This includes proper hand hygiene, disinfection of equipment and footwear, and limiting contact with wild or unfamiliar animals.
Familiarize yourself with the daily care routine for each species. This includes feeding, watering, cleaning enclosures, and providing enrichment activities.
- Follow the specified feeding schedule and portion sizes for each animal. Avoid overfeeding or underfeeding.
- Ensure that fresh water is available at all times.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals every morning and evening. Report any signs of illness, injury, or abnormal behavior to the designated caretaker or supervisor.
- Follow proper quarantine procedures for introducing new animals to prevent the spread of diseases.
Check all the fences and gates every morning and evening.
Keep animal enclosures clean, sanitary, and free from debris.
Ask the management to understand each species needs: Provide appropriate bedding, nesting materials, and environmental enrichment to promote natural behaviors.
Encourage socialization and positive interactions among animals when appropriate.
Provide enrichment activities such as environmental stimuli to prevent boredom and promote mental stimulation.
Ensure that animals receive timely veterinary care, including routine check-ups, vaccinations, and treatment for any medical issues.
Please check with the management about vet appointments. Any donation towards our ongoing Vet costs is very welcome.
Keep accurate records of veterinary visits, medications, and treatments.
Handle animals gently and with care, using proper handling techniques to minimize stress and injury.
Use appropriate restraint methods when necessary for medical procedures or transportation.
Familiarize yourself with emergency procedures, including evacuation plans and emergency contacts.
In case of emergencies, remain calm, follow instructions from supervisors, and prioritize the safety of both animals and humans.
